Please join me in remembering Joan Jones and sending love and condolences to Heidi Koring on the passing of her husband Tom Nicely. And please join me in welcoming two new members, Doni Guggenheimer and Carolyn Cothran.

August was a busy month: we co-hosted two informative programs about redistricting reform in Virginia with Brian Cannon, Director of OneVirginia2021; members monitored the LADTC, and Voter Service was busy registering voters and distributing election information. To help carry on with these and other projects, plan to attend our fall membership meeting at noon on Wednesday Sept. 25 at the Water Dog on Jefferson St. This will be a combined social/information meeting: Vice-Mayor Mary Jane Dolan will tell us what is going on in the City and LWVLY committee chairs will review the work of their committees and explain how you can be involved.

The annual fall lunch time meeting is an excellent opportunity to renew friendships and to introduce prospective members to the League so please extend this invitation to friends and colleagues who are interested in making democracy work.

Joan Jones helped to found the League of Women Voters of Lynchburg. She was an active member throughout her life.
